Shovel blades and shanks are one-piece, rust-proofed, 14 gauge steel, taper-formed, then heat treated. Round blades have slip-resistant, turned step. Burnished lacquered ash handles are double-riveted to blade socket. 170FG and 171FG design is offered with fiberglass handles for greater strength and longer life.
